Trafalgar Class (1890) BB |
|
In
design, the two ships of the Trafalgar Class lay between the Dreadnought
Class of (1879) and Admiral
Class (1888).
Their armoured protection layout was similar to the Admiral's but otherwise were a repeat of Dreadnought. They introduced a large increase in displacement, being the first battleships to exceed 12,000 tons. They were also the first to introduce quick firing (QF) guns which were a significant improvement in defence against torpedo boats.
