HMS Vindictive (1900) CC  (4th)

    
This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Vindictive was a 2nd Class, Protected Cruiser.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, laid down 27-Jan-1896, launched 09-Dec-1897 and completed 04-Jul-1900.

On completion went to the Mediterranean 1900-04, returned to the UK and reserve 1904-12. Used as seagoing tender to HMS Vernon, Torpedo School, Portsmouth 1912-14. Joined the 9th Cruiser Squadron Mid-Atlantic 1914-15, To the South America Station 1915-16. The White Sea 1916-17.

Fitted out as an assault ship 1918 for the Zeebrugge Raid 23-Apr-1918.

Expended as a blockship at Ostend 10-May-1918.

Won the Battle Honours: Zeebrugge 1918 and Ostend 1918.
