This the third ship to carry the name HMS Clarence was a training ship.

Originally HMS Royal William a first rate, 120-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built at Pembroke Dock, launched 02-Apr-1833, 167ft 6in long, 47ft wide and of 2,694 tons builders measurement.

Conversion to a screw ship completed 09-Feb-1860, with a reduced armament of 72-guns.

Renamed the training ship HMS Clarence 1885.

Burned by accident 26-Jul-1899 at the River Mersey.
