HMS Cavendish (1944) DD  (1st)

This the only ship to carry the name HMS Cavendish was a Ca Class, destroyer leader. As destroyer leader she had slightly reduced armament to allow the increased complement and working space needed to control a flotilla.

Built by John brown on the Clyde, laid down 19-May-1943, launched 12-Apr-1944, and commissioned 22-Nov-1944.

At the end of WW2 the flotilla went to the East Indies. Then into Reserve 1946.

Mid 1950's modernised and rebuilt for ASW duties.

Arrived at Blyth 05-Aug-1967 for breaking up.
