On the 28-March during a reconnaissance of the Vlie passage into the Texel HMS Scorpion found 2 Dutch brig-corvettes at anchor in the road.

They arrived alongside their target at 2330hrs and began boarding. After a short attack the Athalante was taken.

Athalante lost 4 killed and 11 wounded out of 76 aboard. The attackers lost 5 wounded.
